Hair Coloring Can Increase The Risk of Breast Cancer
Most women dye their hair not only to cover gray hair, but also to enhance their appearance. Nevertheless, there are dangers that lurk behind the hair coloring process.
A study found a link between the process of hair coloring and hair straightening chemically, with an increased risk of breast cancer. The study, published in the International Journal of Cancer, states that most dark-skinned women who do this type of hair treatment, are more at risk of developing breast cancer.
Women who routinely dye hair chemically, are more at risk of developing breast cancer by up to nine percent. Of the nine percent, the majority are dark-skinned women.
While women who routinely straighten hair chemically, have a risk of exposure to breast cancer up to 18 percent, and again most of the exposed are dark skinned women.
Nevertheless, experts say further studies and reconfirmations about the relationship between types of hair care are needed and increase the risk of breast cancer.
The study said Arena only discusses the correlation that increases the risk of breast cancer, not the trigger, because many other factors can be triggers.
