After the Instagram Feed was filled with beautiful designs of jelly nails, this nail trend seemed to be shifting.  Almost all social media with posts in the form of nail art designs are now starting to be filled with new trends, sea glass nails.  From influencers, celebs, to leading nail artists on social media, there have been many discussions about new trends lately.

Glass nails are actually similar to jelly nails in terms of design and appearance at a glance.  But, what distinguishes the two is the finish.  If jelly nails are more shiny, sea glass nails use clear matte polish.  However, this is not a standard rule that must be and strict.

The opportunity for you to be creative when decorating your nails will never be limited.  But, if you’ve been wondering about sea glass nail art, here are some things you should know before trying on your own nails.

This new trend was first popularized by a nail art design expert, Jessica Washick.  Jessica was inspired by jelly nails which had first become a trend.  So, do not be surprised if the design is very similar.


According to Jessica, to get clear opacity on the base coat, you must combine colored nail polish with a clear top coat to emphasize the glass effect.
You will apply the mixed nail polish to your nails, then let it dry. That is the jelly manicure base. Then, you apply the usual top coat. Let it dry, then apply a matte top coat.
